About the California Academy of Sciences

California Academy of Sciences of San Francisco is one of the oldest museums in the U.S.. Founded in 1853, originally in a sailing vessel, it was moved to Golden Gate Park in the 1900s. The Museum was first damaged in the earthquake of 1906 and then in 1989, since then it remained closed until the new opening in 2008.

Built designed by the famous Italian Architect Renzo Piano is called the “Museum that Breathes” and considered to be one of the greenest Building in the world with almost Zero-emission.

The Academy of Science is the World’s only Aquarium-Planetarium-Rainforest-Living Museum – Here you will find the “Steinhard” Aquarium with about 38,000 living animals representing nearly 900 different species and with representations of diverse marine environments and coral reefs.
