Among the many destinations that Florida offers, the Florida Keys are certainly one of the most visited and appreciated.
From Key Largo to Key West
There are 42 bridges that connect the different islands, the keys, from the first island of Key Largo all the way down to the last, and most famous, Key West, also the southern-most point of the continental United States and only 90 miles from Cuba (140km).
In KEY LARGO you can go snorkeling at the John Pennekamp State Park, or relax in one of the many local beaches.
After Key Largo, you find
ISLAMORADA, famous for sport fishing, and then
MARATHON, here you are more or less half way to Key West, one of the most visited by national tourists and snowbirds (the Northerners) that come down to the keys to spend their winter.
The LOWER KEYS archipelago takes a turn towards west, towards the sunset. The islands you find next are home to two main national wildlife refuges:
Little Duck Key and Veterans Memorial Park, there is a national marine sanctuary and a national park, the islands are rich in wildlife and marine life. The Lower Keys are an oasis.
Big Pine is a starting point for many snorkeling and diving excursions, including diving outings to
admire the wreck of the Adolphus Busch. The Sandspur Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Florida.
In KEY WEST your will breathe the typical Caribbean air, the atmosphere is very special and you will love the “easy going” and laid-back vibe that will welcome you.
Locals and visitors alike walk along Duval Street stopping in one of the many local bars to listen to live music while enjoying a cold beer. Then, you need to reach Mallory Square in time for the sunset. Among the things we recommend is a
visit to the Hemingway House and the southern most point of the United States, a colored Buoy,
Cuba is only 90 miles!
You will have the chance to buy many souvenirs, dine in one of the many local restaurants or simply relax by the ocean. Shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, are one after another.
