The Miami Grand Prix is nothing short of an extraordinary event in the world of Formula 1. Since its debut in 2022, it has captured the imagination of fans and enthusiasts, transforming the Miami Gardens location into a stage for world-class automotive excellence.

It's not just a race, but a celebration of local culture, music, and cuisine, making this Miami event unique and unforgettable. Here is all the information on the history, the circuit, and everything surrounding this incredible event.

History of the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix

The Miami Grand Prix is a celebrated car race; it takes place at the Miami International Autodrome, located in Miami Gardens. The event debuted in 2022, capturing international attention from its inception.

For several years, the organizers (Liberty Media and Apex Circuit Design) worked to find the perfect location, initially evaluating 75 different circuits in the city center. In the end, they chose the area around the Hard Rock Stadium, an ideal location for hosting the race.

The chosen circuit configuration features 19 corners, allowing drivers to reach average speeds of 223 km/h, with peaks of up to 320 km/h, making the race very exciting for both spectators and drivers. Since 2022, Miami has become a fixed stop on the Formula 1 World Championship calendar, joining other iconic locations in the United States like Austin.

The 2024 edition saw the participation of over 275,000 spectators, setting a new attendance record. The success of this extraordinary event has confirmed Miami as one of the favorite destinations for Formula 1 fans worldwide.

The Miami Grand Prix Circuit

The Miami circuit is an impressive engineering feat; it is made up of 14 million pounds of steel and aluminum and 24,000 tons of asphalt. The track stretches for 5.41 kilometers and includes 19 corners, 14 bridges, and three straights. Additionally, the 2025 edition will once again feature the Sprint race, an exciting format introduced in a previous edition.

For those unfamiliar, the Sprint race is a 100 km race held exclusively on Saturday, allowing drivers to earn extra points for the championship. In 2024, it was won by Max Verstappen, while Lando Norris claimed his first victory in the main Grand Prix.

The Miami race is the first of three Formula 1 events held in the United States each year. Participating in it is an incredible experience, as it combines the thrill of racing with Miami's vibrant culture: a unique excitement for all fans.

In addition to the race itself, the Miami Grand Prix is well-known for the satellite events that animate the city throughout the weekend. To start with, the culinary offerings are rich and varied: over 65 restaurants present a wide range of local and international cuisines. Vegetarian and vegan options are also included to cater to all participants' tastes.

The event also features a high-level music program, with performances by artists such as Kaytranada, Marc Anthony, and Steve Aoki over the weekend. But it's not just about music: local art is also a highlight of the Grand Prix, with exhibitions of works by artists from all over South Florida. It creates a cultural and creative atmosphere that fully engages visitors.

I’m the biggest fan of Fall activities, but haven’t had a chance to do anything beyond Apple Picking in NJ. I decided to take a last minute 2 day trip with a friend in Hudson Valley, but didn’t know where to start [...] Thankfully I was able to use New York Welcome to do the hard work for us [...]

Irene was a FANTASTIC tour guide! She was so knowledgeable about the area and was so patient with all our questions. We stopped to use the bathroom and we got coffee halfway through, she was so kind! It was a pleasure learning about Brooklyn from you!
